Leah Clearwater Is The Elder Sister To Seth, and the only female member of The Quileute Wolfpack In La Push, Washington. Sarcastic, cynical and tempermental, she Is a bit of a loner and an outcast, still trying to overcome the deep pain she felt, both at losing her father and the great love of her life, Sam Uley, when he imprinted imprinted on her cousin. In spite of her shortcomings, she can be fiercely loyal, dedicated and a powerful ally in battle.
Personality[]
Leah Clearwater is a complicated person. On the surface she appears to be very angry, hostile and short tempered. And this is true to an extent, but she is not really a bad person. She's really just hurt and lonely and frustrated and feels out of control of her life. Having her father die when she shifted, followed by the loss of her love because he imprinted on not just anyone else but her *cousin* of all people has left her feeling confused, rejected, hurt on many levels.
She tends to internalize her vulnerabilities, putting on a facade of tough, devil-may-care, acting very cynical and cold towards strangers. She will also try very hard to prove herself to others and to herself most of all, that she can be just as tough as the other wolves, probably to show that she wont be hurt again or that she didn't really care that Sam broke her heart.
Only a small handful of people who really get to know and trust her will realize that she really is a good person. She has proven this many times, remaining loyal to the wolf pack, fighting hard to prove herself, often foolishly putting herself in dangerous situations just to prove that she is capable.
SIGNATURE ABILITY[]
Greased Lightning[]
Leah is an excellent runner both as a human and a wolf. While in wolf form, if she really pushes it, she can be little more than a blur of movement, rushing in and striking a target, faster than the eye can see. This is not something she can do all the time and usually happens in a rush of adrenaline, using a large amount of energy to dash around and make an almost impossible to dodge strike before darting out again. Doing so can leave her quite exhausted after.

Athletics |
Leah has been training with the rest of the pack ever since her first transformation. She knows how to hunt, to run - and is one of the fastest wolves in the pack. This all makes her very fit and muscular and she likes to work out on a regular basis, mostly through hunting and running as a wolf or hiking and swimming as a human. Yoga is another big thing she's started recently and the results speak for themselves. Her body is sleek, muscular and very fit, enabling her to keep up easily with her bigger stronger peers.
Combat |
She's a decent combatant, moreso in her wolf persona than as a human. But even so, hanging out with the big boys for a couple of years, Leah has learned to take care of herself to a competent level. She can defend herself against a street thug but might have trouble against a skilled thug or three. Her combat skills as a wolf are far more competent, mostly because it comes to her instinctively.
Lore |
Leah is no stranger to Quileute legends, nor the legends surrounding vampires and their relationship with each other. She knows quite a few stories and has keenly paid attention to the campsite tales. She knows enough to know of the existence of a few different types of werewolves and vampires out there, but her knowledge is not that extensive.
Survival |
Leah has lived on the reservation for most of her life, and like most of her people, she has learned to live off the land and to live *with* the land. She knows how to backpack in the wilderness and find her way home, she knows how to hunt, both as a wolf and a human, how to fish and to use basic hunting tools. She knows how to safely prepare food for eating, how to build a shelter and protect herself from the elements. While she is not a professional in this, she knows enough to keep herself alive for several days in the middle of practically nowhere.
Swimming |
Leah lives near a large river and has learned how to swim all these years. She enjoys swimming and is a fairly competent and powerful swimmer, able to tread water for several minutes, to hold her breath under water for a decent amount of time and to dive from a good distance into the water. She's no expert but she knows enough to outswim a lot of people.
Yoga |
Yoga is a relatively new activity for Leah, and something she has come to enjoy. It's good for calming her mind and keeping her body lean and flexible. She is still relatively new at this and is just learning to meditate and quiet her mind but she's getting fairly good at it.

Power: Body Heat |
A Quileute wolf-shifter has a natural body temperature of about 110°F. This allows them to endure extremes of temperature, staving off cold and tolerating heat, far better than a normal human. The elevated body temperature also makes it harder for them to become sick, as the germs and pathogens adapted to human hosts generally do not tolerate their body heat. Of course, this comes with the drawback that their body heat is high enough to cause alarm if they are ever checked over by a human doctor.

In human-form, a Quileute wolf-shifter possesses the following traits: Peak human strength and agility, Enhanced-level Toughness and stamina sufficient to resist bullet wounds and carry a person for miles on end at a run without any sign of fatigue, Enhanced-level Senses akin to those of a wolf that enable them to track by scent and hear over great distances, and running speeds faster than even peak Olympic athletes. They can also shift into their more powerful wolf-form, granting them even further expanded abilities.
Power: Regeneration |
A Quileute wolf-shifter's Enhanced-level regeneration allows him to recover from nearly any wound. He heals so fast that broken bones knit faster than they can be set, which can be a complication, but even if he is seriously injured to the point that a human might be crippled, he can bounce back quickly, though at times he still requires proper medical care. In addition, each time he shifts his body regenerates itself on the cellular level. This does not instantly heal injuries, but it does effectively "reboot" his aging process. (This refers to the cellular decay of growing old, not the process of growing into a mature adult. He effectively remains in the peak condition of an eighteen-year-old.)
Power: Senses |
The senses of a Quileute wolf-shifter are enhanced far beyond the ability of any average human. They can hear things like a person's heartbeat and tell if they are nervous and possibly lying and clearly hear the murmur of a quiet conversation several rooms away. They can see over long distances and also possesses excellent night vision. Through scent, they can track a person, even if the trail is days old; they can also isolate specific individual scents in a larger group.
Power: Speed |
Leah is known to be the fastest wolf of the tribe. While she may not be the strongest she can outrun anyone, and is fast even for a wolf shifter. This can come in handy when she needs to flee quickly, or simply being a messenger. It also enables her to perform a devastating signature attack.

In wolf-form, a Quileute wolf-shifter possesses the following traits: Enhanced-level Strength sufficient to crush stone in their jaws, Enhanced-level Agility, Enhanced-level Toughness and stamina sufficient to resist most mundane forms of trauma, Enhanced-level Senses akin to those of a wolf that enable them to track by scent and hear over great distances, Enhanced-level Claws/Fangs that allow them to tear through most conventional materials, and Enhanced-level travel speed, allowing them to run at over one hundred miles per hour.
ADVANTAGES[]
Fearless |
It would be a stretch to say she is absolutely fearless, but she will certainly go to great lengths to prove herself, even if it means treading in dangerous territory. This CAN be an advantage if it means others are too afraid to even try. There's nothing like facing your fear and doing it anyway.
Pack |
Leah has been inducted into the Black Wolf tribe, and even after she left she gained loyalty with Jacob and Jason's tribe. She can call on her wolf allies for aid and is connected to them through telepathy.
Tenacious |
Leah is pretty stubborn when she wants to be, and isn't one to back down from a challenge easily. This can be helpful if a difficult tasks is required and she's no stranger to butting her head against a wall or trying again and again until she succeeds at the task at hand.
WEAKNESSES[]
Fearless |
The flipside of acting too cocky, too fearless is that she will often ignore dangerous situations and run headlong into them anyway. Leah's determination to show that she's as good as the boys will get her into as much trouble as it makes her an invaluable team member. Too bad she's either one extreme or the other.
Scent |
To a human nose, Quileute wolf-shifters actually tend to have pleasant, naturally earthy smells. However, to most vampires, they carry the "reek" of lupine shifter, which vampires often call a "dog smell" or worse. This makes it easy for those with enhanced senses to track them via scent.
Seth |
Leah is extremely (perhaps overly) protective of her little brother, Seth. Although they often bicker, Leah really does care for him a lot and tends to worry a bit too much when he goes missing or gets into trouble. Should anyone harm him she would be willing to risk her life to protect him, and this can get her in trouble.
Stubborn |
Being tenacious isn't all that great when you look at the flip side. Getting her to back off from a dangerous or foolhardy situation is tricky, as is trusting that she will call on others for back up when she's in a difficult or dangerous situation, determined to do things herself.
Temper Temper |
Leah was born and raised in La Push, Washington, a beautiful reserve where she quietly lived for several years with her parents and her younger brother Seth. Leah was always a bit brash, a bit fierce and temperamental, moreso than her cousin and best friend Emily Young. But maybe it was their opposing personalities that made them such good friends.
When she started highschool, Leah met and fell in love with Sam Uly. They dated for three years before he suddenly became unusually quiet and withdrawn. One day, Sam mysteriously disappeared from her life and she didn't see him for two weeks before he re-emerged, a changed man.
Leah did her best to give him space, but things never really improved between them. She called her cousin over for a visit, hoping she might be able to help. It would be the first time that Sam actually met Emily, and when their eyes met, something truly strange happened between them. Leah didn't know it at the time, but he had immediately imprinted on her, and they instantly hit it off, leaving a confused Leah far behind in the dust.
It soon became quite clear that Sam was no longer in love with Leah as he paid more and more attention to Emily, to the point where Leah felt insanely jealous of the attention he gave her. She counted on Emily rejecting his advances but eventually it appeared that not even Emily could resist this extremely powerful force of nature. He immediately broke up with Leah and he and Emily started a very intense relationship.
Leah grew increasingly bitter and angry towards the both of them and at the same time she found her temper and rages were growing more and more uncontrollable. Her mood swings were getting way out of control, to the point where she got into a big argument with her mother, ending up at odds with her parents. During that time, her father died of a heart attack after an encounter with the vampire Victoria.
This only added further to Leah's grief, and the trauma caused both her and her younger brother Seth to shift for the first time.
From that moment on, Leah was inducted into the Quileute Wolf Pack, and privy to all the secrets that had been circulating around for a while at La Push. Finally she understood the nature of Sam's secrecy, of the nature of 'imprinting' and a number of tales of the Quileute Wolf-Shifters and their history with the vampires.
Oh, it didn't really help her feel any better, mind, now she was forced to share private thoughts via telepathy with all the other wolves including Sam, something which she detested as she could now hear his feelings and other unpleasant things between him and her cousin that made her sick to her stomach. Worse than that, she could not leave, she was bound to the wolf pack, and suddenly her menstrual cycle stopped altogether, making her worry that she could never be a normal human and have a normal family.
Then Jacob broke away and formed an independent wolf pack. Seth followed shortly after and eventually Leah discovered that she was able to break free of Sam's pack and join them as well, awaiting a new, hopefully better life elsewhere.
